Wilmer G. Miller Award in Biopolymer Science

APTEC's Wilmer G. Miller Award honors a faculty-student or faculty-postdoc team for research in biopolymers, biosimilar polymers or related systems. The team should exemplify quiet and unassuming devotion to great science, cordial interactions, concern for others, and the commitment to leave any situation better than they found it.

Leah Johnson and Carmen Scholz -- University of Alabama Huntsville  (2026)
Dr. Leah Johnson and her advisor, Prof. Carmen Scholz, joined together to investigate the diffusion of a synthetic polypeptide by NMR methods. The work led to the first PhD awarded at the UAH in Chemistry. Each awardee will receive a cash award to further their careers in any way they see fit.
